About Pack Engineering
Pack Engineering was founded by Lonnie Pack in 2021 in response to increased demand for specialised structural engineering expert witness services. The firm was purpose-built to deliver rigorous, independent expert opinion for construction and engineering disputes — it is not a generalist consultancy that provides expert witness work as a secondary offering.
Since its establishment, Pack Engineering has delivered over 100 expert witness reports, appeared in the Supreme Courts of New South Wales, Victoria, and Western Australia, participated in more than a dozen expert conclaves, and assisted in mediations. The firm's clients include leading Australian law firms such as Colin Biggers & Paisley.
With offices in Sydney, Brisbane, and Canberra, Pack Engineering also offers bespoke engineering design services for complex projects requiring advanced analysis, including 3D modelling, Finite Element Analysis (FEA), and non-standard construction materials.

Founding Director
Lonnie Pack
Founding Director — Based in Sydney
Lonnie Pack has been providing expert witness services since 2017, with the majority of his workload over the past eight years dedicated to expert witness reporting. He has worked on more than 50 cases spanning industrial, infrastructure, residential, commercial, water, multistorey buildings, tanks, bridges, tunnels, rail, and contractual issues.
His involvement extends to reporting, expert conclaves, and court appearances in the Supreme Court of New South Wales and the Supreme Court of Victoria.
Lonnie's technical focus encompasses compliance with Australian Standards, design and analysis of steel, concrete, and timber structures, dynamics, demolition, lifting analysis, geotechnical engineering, foundations, and retaining walls. He has a particular interest in complex designs and analysis requiring material testing and finite element analysis.
With 18 years of experience in civil and structural engineering across commercial, infrastructure, mining, and oil & gas projects, Lonnie brings deep, diversified technical knowledge to every engagement.

A comprehensive 525-page structural engineering textbook authored by Lonnie Pack, with Brian Kinnear joining for the second edition to update the concrete chapter.
The guidebook serves as a practical and essential tool covering structural design calculations in accordance with Australian and international standards. It addresses project management, document control, wind, seismic, dead and live load calculations, steel, concrete, and timber design, geotechnical calculations including footings, piles, and retaining walls, worked examples, and typical CAD details.
